     DS1820 Demonstration Program (v2.0)
  Copyright 1995, Dallas Semiconductor Corp.

This DS1820 Demonstration Program Disk contains the
following files:

  README.TXT -- This information file.
DS1820.EXE -- The demo executable file.
BWCC.DLL -- Library file necessary for program
                execution.

Program Requirements:
  o Windows 3.1 or later
  o Mouse
  o Parallel/printer port
o Demo hardware (supplied with this disk)

It is suggested that the user copy all of the files
from the floppy disk to a hard drive. The BWCC.DLL
file must be either in the same directory as
DS1820.EXE or in a directory that is listed in the
PATH environment variable.

Before running the program, the user should connect
the demo hardware to the parallel/printer port.
While the demo program is running, the user should
not use any other programs that might access that
parallel/printer port, and nothing else should be
connected to the same port that the demo hardware
is connected to.

The program can be run by using the "File/Run..."
menu option in the Program Manager or by double-
clicking on the DS1820.EXE listing from the File
Manager. Normally, DS1820.EXE does not require any
command-line parameters. However, if there are
any problems accessing the parts in the demo
program and the user knows which port number the
demo hardware is connected to, the program can be
sent a parameter '1', '2', '3', or '4' to specify
LPT1, LPT2, LPT3, or LPT4. For example,

                DS1820 2

would specify communication on port LPT2. Since
the program attempts to automatically determine
the correct port, the command-line parameter is
normally not required.

The port can also be selected from the BUS
EXPERIMENTATION window while the program is
running. This can be useful when moving the kit
hardware from one port to a different port.

Warning, especially to laptop users: Some
computers have special power-down/energy-saver
modes that disable the parallel/printer port. In
order to use this kit, the port must be enabled.

The HELP button in the main program window brings
up a list of topics specific to the functionality
of the program. Please refer to the DS1820 data
sheet for information specific to the DS1820.
