                              Final Burn
                   ---------------------------------

Basics!
-------
Final Burn is an arcade emulator.
It requires the rom images of the original arcade machines to emulate them.

It supports the arcade versions of After Burner I and II.
It supports the arcade version of Galaxy Force, Power Drift and Rail Chase.

(If you aren't familiar with emulators, you should note that this program is different from
a game, since it's a tool used to run the original games.)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

What's new?

v0.052
+ Added a rom path variable 'szAppRomPath' to the cfg\finalburn.ini config file.
Final Burn will search in this directory for rom zip files.
By default it will search in the folder 'roms'.

(If you change this option, make sure you include the final \ on the path name.)

v0.051
* Changed to DirectDraw 3+
To run the emu you need:
  DirectDraw 3 or higher.
  DirectInput 5 or higher.
  DirectSound 3 or higher.

So DirectX 5, 6 or 7 are fine.

v0.050
+ First public release of Rail Chase driver.

* (Note - to start a game, press the fire button.)

v0.041
+ Fixed the energy display in Galaxy Force II
+ Fixed the speed display in Power Drift.
+ Added sound support to Thunder Blade.

v0.040
+ Galaxy Force II!
+ Added a new option for Auto-Centering Keyboard!

Using Final Burn
------------------
Put the romset (zipped) in the subdirectory (folder) called "roms".
For After Burner II, make sure it is called aburner2.zip
For After Burner I, you need both aburner1.zip and aburner2.zip since they share some data.
For Power Drift, make sure it is called pwrdrift.zip
For Power Drift (Jap), you need both pwrdrift.zip and pwrdrifj.zip
For Galaxy Force II, make sure it is called gforce2.zip
For Galaxy Force II (Jap), you need both gforce2.zip and gforce2j.zip
For Rail Chase (Jap), make sure it is called railchaj.zip

Note: the emulator colors will appear wrong if your desktop is in 256-color (8-bit).
Right-click on your desktop, properties, settings, and raise you color depth to 16-bit or higher
before you run the emulator.

Now Run the emulator and select your game, click Load, pick the game you wish to play.
*Note that if the romset is incomplete large sections of graphics and/or sound will be missing.

Now select your input type!
Click Input, and then click one of the input options.
Auto-Centering works really well with Galaxy Force II, Power Drift, ThunderBlade and Out Run.
For After Burner, it's easier to aim with the non-centering keyboard option.
If you can use joystick 1, better yet!
